Anne-Marie Nygaard Eilertsen

Tapestry artist

I am born in 1954 an have been making woven pictures since 1978.
Before I start a new picture, I make a lot of sketches. As a starting point I have an idea of a movement or a glimpse of a visual detail.

My goal is to make a collage, which is organic. Everything have to fit in to a unity. Every part has to carry itself. Flow is essential in my pictures. You have to see them as a-dance-forever, in which the eye can keep on wandering inside the picture.

When I am satisfied with my sketches I draw a final edition, which I then enlarge into natural size. ( a cardboard). The cardboard is placed behind the warp and the weaving-process can begin. The most important in this process is, that I create a living, sensual surface.
A surface that appeals to the senses.
